Hello there!
I’m an aspiring artist and author, and a recent graduate of BYU Idaho. In terms of both reading and writing, I’m a big fan of genre fiction, especially Superhero stories and Tim-Burton esque “Horror Lite” that leans more toward Halloween-level fun than buckets of gore and trauma. I was born in Utah, but I’ve lived in Washington for almost all of my life, and I consider that to be my true home. I live there to this day with my Fiancee and buckets of figurines and games.

- A Sample of My Research Writing and the Proposal that Led to It: For a project in my last semester of college, I undertook a long period of researching how movie adaptations of books (and vice versa) can nurture and encourage literacy in readers of all ages. I turned that research into a paper, which can be found here along with my proposal for the research.
- A Presentation Based on the Research Paper (And Audio Annotation): I later turned the above paper into a slideshow presentation which can be found here. I also added a link to an audio recording of me presenting the slideshow for clarity purposes.
- A Sample of My Analytical Writing: I wrote this eight page paper for a Realism/Modern American Literature class. In it, I examined Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman and explored the consequences of the main character’s singleminded devotion to material and social gain. This paper is a good example of my essay writing skills and analytical mind, and demonstrates my skill at tuning voice to a specific audience.
- A Sample of My Creative Writing: This is a ten-page short story I wrote for an Advanced Creative Writing class in 2023. My goal with it was to write a self contained story in a genre (superhero) and style (Shonen manga style teen action) that does not necessarily lend itself to being so short and succinct. This sample highlights my skill at developing characters and writing with the voice(s) of my characters.
- My Personal Reading List: Here are a few recommendations for books by authors, and in genres, that have greatly shaped my writing style and sensibilities. First and foremost, of course, is a superhero novel, but there are also Science-fiction/fantasy and Humor recs. Additionally, these are generally written for young/new adults, which is the demographic I hope to write for.
